How the books are ranked

Every book is scored on the same three things, and its rating out of 5 weighs them together. All of it is demonstration data.

Titles actually covered

Counted outside a major tournament window, because everyone prices a final and far fewer price a regional qualifier on a Tuesday.

On the board: titles priced outside the majors, out of six.

Depth past match winner

Maps, handicaps, totals and player markets. A book with one market per match is a book you will use once.

On the board: the furthest market it prices.

Integrity and void rules

What happens on a disconnect, a remake, a roster change or a forfeit — written down before you need it, or not written down at all.

On the board: written, partial or not published.

Where esports is not an afterthought

Most sportsbooks list esports and price two markets on the two biggest titles. The ones here price the tiers below, which is where the value and the reason to have an account both are.

Every row shows its working on the three criteria in How we rate: titles priced out of six, the furthest market past match winner, and void rules, written, partial or not published.

Esports betting, explained

A good esports book is not the one with the biggest welcome number. It is the one that prices the games you watch in the weeks between the majors, goes past match winner, and has written down what happens when a match does not finish the way it started. Three things decide most of it:

  1. Coverage in an ordinary week. Any book prices a grand final. Count the regional qualifiers on a Tuesday instead.
  2. Depth past match winner. Map handicaps and totals are where an informed bettor has an edge; a book that stops at match winner removes it.
  3. The void rules, read first. Disconnects, remakes and forfeits happen every week somewhere. The book that wrote its rule down is the one you can hold to it.

Everything on PokaEsports is invented, including this advice, which is nonetheless sound. Read how we rate.

18+ only. Betting can be addictive: set a limit before the match starts, and stop when you reach it. Bet responsibly.

Before you open an account

  • Is the game you watch priced outside the majors?
  • Does the book go past match winner on it?
  • Is its void rule written down, disconnects included?

Questions about esports betting

  • Is any of this real?

No. Every book, game title, tournament, offer, rating and author on this site is invented. It is a demo of the PokaTheme WordPress theme on its Esports Arena style.

  • Which games can I bet on?

The two or three largest titles everywhere, and beyond that it varies enormously. We counted titles priced outside a major tournament window, which is a fairer picture of what a book will offer you in an ordinary week.

  • What happens if a player disconnects?

It depends entirely on the book’s own rules, and they are not the same anywhere. Some void, some settle on the official result however it was reached, some wait for the tournament organiser. Read that section before you place anything — it is the rule you will eventually meet.

  • Are esports odds worse than football odds?

Usually, because the markets are thinner and the book is carrying more uncertainty. The gap narrows on the biggest matches and widens sharply on smaller ones, which is also where the pricing mistakes are.

  • Can I watch the match on the site?

Often, through an embedded stream that runs behind the live feed the odds are priced from. Betting live off a delayed stream is betting on information the book already has, which is worth knowing before you do it.
